WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN PEOPLE MISTREAT YOU? My pastor used to say to keep 50:20 vision. And then he would point to Genesis 50:20. In that passage we find Joseph’s helpful perspective on #forgiveness
Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold as a slave. Because they thought it would be better to get money than kill him. At least he is good for 30 pieces of silver. Fast forward and he is the king of all Egypt and they come groveling for food and favor. HE STATES – YOU MEANT IT FOR EVIL BUT GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD!–
“But Joseph said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.’ So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them” (Genesis 50:19–21).
Amazing 50:20 perspective. Trust God through the pain today my friend… And understand that God can even use the way others mistreat you for your Good and for His Good purposes.
